Well, They’ve really done it now. Did They want to start the Revolution before Chrsitmas? They fired what I fear will be the Shot Heard Round the World over at A and E over Phil Robertson’s interview in GQ.
I have so many issues with this I don’t even know where to start. Here’s Phil’s quote that all the Progressives are flipping out on:
“Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there. Bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men,” he tells reporter Drew Magary. “Don’t be deceived. Neither the adulterers, the idolaters, the male prostitutes, the homosexual offenders, the greedy, the drunkards, the slanderers, the swindlers—they won’t inherit the kingdom of God. Don’t deceive yourself. It’s not right.”
He also muses rather colorfully about his own sexual orientation: “It seems like, to me, a vagina—as a man—would be more desirable than a man’s anus. That’s just me. I’m just thinking: There’s more there! She’s got more to offer. I mean, come on, dudes! You know what I’m saying? But hey, sin: It’s not logical, my man. It’s just not logical.”

First of all, seems to me that this is Phil’s OPINION. OPINION, people. Remember when it was really okay to have one of those, especially if it was different from someone else’s? Remember when we had something in this country called THE FIRST AMENDMENT???? We live now in Orwell’s vision, where we’re all created equal-some of us are just more equal than others. Isn’t that right, Snowball?
Let’s understand each other here. I do not agree with Phil’s comments. I have many gay and lesbian friends and in my own personal experience I believe people are people. Period. But, that’s MY personal experience, much like Phil’s beliefs come from HIS. This goes WAAAAAAYYYY beyond the LGBT debate. Now, we’re treading on even MORE sacred ground kiddies: The Constitution of the United States of America.
Here’s the deal-and, Phil, I hope you’re out there listening- if we don’t start backing each other on PRINCIPLE and ignoring the personality, we are screwed, my friends. We have, at that point, sunk to the level They want us to, where we’ll sell our own mothers and eat our neighbors. We get to THAT point and there is NOTHING-and I mean NOTHING- that separates us from the animals.
I guess Voltaire isn’t part of Common Core.
I take issue with the morality in this country these days because there isn’t much of it. I myself am not even Christian- I’m Pagan and probably not someone Phil Robertson would even hang out with, even though our lifestyles and moral groundings are incredibly similar. But, that’s okay. Phil doesn’t have to like me. I would like to think, though, that if They start rounding up the political malcontents such as myself Phil Robertson would step up and say “Oh, no- I don’t think so. She has a right to her OPINION.”
Truth is Truth, no matter how you look at it; Obama left four men to die in Benghazi-truth. He lied about the Abominable Care Act- truth. He has let the NSA run amok on the lives of private citizens-truth. Personal Truth, however, is incredibly subjective. Phil Robertson’s personal truth includes a belief in Hell. Mine includes a belief that we make our own Hell. Phil Robertson’s personal truth includes Jesus Christ as his personal savior. Mine includes Jesus as a master healer and incredible teacher of basic morals we can ALL learn from (yes, including us Pagans).
When it becomes a crime to speak your own personal truth, when the Thought Police monitor your own private musings, especially when you’re in a position of celebrity, we have an issue. And we sure as hell got one now.
I’ll light a candle for Phil and his family tonight and pray that whatever direction their path takes from here, it does the least damage to the integrity of the family and the most to teach honor to Them. They need it one hell of a lot worse than the Robertson clan……
