Panem et Circensus….

Posted: May 7, 2014 in Uncategorized

Hear that?

That could be the sound of Hell as we know it actually freezing over.

Word out of DC  is that John Boehner is no longer an invertebrate and has decided that yes, Virginia, it would be a good idea to re-investigate the whole Benghazi thing because, apparently, he now believes that the Commander-in-Chief has lied about what happened that night.  He said (and I quote) “This is all about getting to the truth. This is not going to be a sideshow. This is not going to be a circus. This is a serious investigation. Our system of government depends on transparency and accountability.”

Not gonna be a circus….our government depends on accountability.

Has he looked around lately?

While I firmly believe that the Benghazi coverup needs to be brought into the light and the cockroaches exposed for allowing the deaths of four Americans,  I think the fact that the investigation is being investigated is already part of that circus.  I definitely don’t want to rain on anyone’s parade here, but let’s look at this with as much transparency as we can.

It’s May.  There are six months left until the mid-term elections.  The last mid-term elections were swept by Tea Party candidates and the Right Wing.  We did good.  Until they all got to Washington. Then, Paul Ryan sold out the vets, Marco Rubio rolled over on immigration and Lindsey Graham….well…..

Now, suddenly, inexplicably, and perhaps even miraculously everyone is on the reinvestigation bandwagon since the surfacing of the email suggesting a senior White House aide prepped Susan Rice for her riveting assertions that the Benghazi attack was all over a video tape.(

As much as I want to believe that Boehner grew a spine and the Light of Truth is the most important thing on the table here, it smells a little too convenient and well-timed.

I mean, look around.  Everywhere you go, folks are on edge and snappy.  I was in Walmart the other day and this woman looked like she was gonna slit my throat when I reached for the avocado she’d been eyeballin’ for ten minutes (hey- I don’t want guacamole that bad…).  And the one thing that really set people off was the tragedy of 9-11-2012.  They all began to wonder if those same guys they elected two years prior were gonna be worth having around.  A year after Benghazi a report that came out indicating the public liked traffic jams, the IRS and hemorrhoids better than Congress.

See where I’m headed with this?

With six months left until those same folks head to the polls, I’m not so sure that Truth is the only thing Congress wants to get out of reopening the investigation. tI have more faith in Jim Morrison still being alive and finding Waldo than I do in DC doing the right thing, for the sake of the Truth.  And even if they get at the Truth, then what?

We all know by now the whole thing was just the North African version of Fast and Furious; that it was a botched kidnapping attempt in which Ambassaor Stevens would be traded for the Blind Sheik and all those weapons were just party favors.  We also all know by now that no one will take the rap for this, no one will come forward and say it was their fault four Americans came home in body bags.  I mean, even Nixon had enough integrity to resign.

And Congress knows this, too.  Finding the Truth, who really gave the call for help to stand down and allowed those murders, will never happen.  That would mean someone would be responsible for murder, and possibly, treason.

I really wanna be like Fox Mulder- I really want to believe.  Time will tell on this one. It’s gonna be a weird summer……
